If you're searching for the best defender in the game. Stop searching you found him. I've played the last weekend league with this guy and he is just phenomenal. He's so fast, agile and has everything you need at the centre back position. I've conceded just 21 goals with him at the back line. Next to him i've played Boateng (91) and in the goal Neuer TOTY. Only Con is maybe the price, but if you got the coins. Get him ASAP!

I was insanely fortunate enough to pack TOTY VVD in a 50k untradable Rivals reward pack. Never packed a TOTY in my seven years of FUT so my jaw dropped to the floor.
Partnered with 86 Varane, with Klaiber on his right, Alisson as his keeper, Virgil is undeniably excellent. I had him with IF Kimpembre before, who was terrible and it was clear the opponent would target Kimpembre instead of testing Virgil. I had an engine of VVD, I recommend just maxing out that pace with a Shadow so you don't rage when SIF Lozano speeds past him in FUT Champs.

- Positioning ONLY if you have a good backline next to him -- do not make him a one-man army. Not how FIFA works!

- You notice VVD is incredible, but you don't notice he is 2M coins better than 86 Varane, if that makes sense. If you have lets say 5M coins for a squad, just roll with a Varane and max out that attach and midfield honestly.
I had saved up 200+ packs for toty and on my second to last pack, low and behold, the legend VVD makes his grand entrance into the club. This man has been and continues to be an absolute menace out on the pitch. To have him paired with Varane in the back line almost makes me feel bad for my opponents. I found that VVD is incredibly responsive and in-game and his attributes are absolutely reflected in his play. Although I have a shadow on him, I don't think that his defense needs the boost at all and his short and long passing is already 99. Overall, this card is definitely the best defender in Fifa right now along with Varane. While both of their defending AIs are the best in the game, VVD's stats provide a noticeable and obvious improvement over Varane's weaknesses. If you have the coins to buy this card, you will not regret it for the rest of Fifa 21.
